Our founder, Ian Weygand, began his career studying electrical theory early on, which led to working as a Local 3 electrician in New York City, contributing to major infrastructure projects and gaining a deep understanding of electrical systems at the highest level.
From there, he expanded into the solar industry, including time spent working in Hawaii, one of the most advanced solar markets in the country – where solar wasn’t just about installs, but about community, sustainability, and long-term performance.
Returning to the Northeast, one thing became clear:
The solar industry had a major problem.
That’s when Renew Solar Services was created – to be the company that steps in when others don’t.
Renew Solar Services is led by Ian Weygand, a master electrician with over 20 years of experience in electrical systems and solar energy.
Before launching Renew, our founder built and operated successful solar installation companies, known for delivering high-quality installations and a true customer-first approach – long before it became a marketing message.
His experience goes beyond installation and service.
Ian Weygand has been actively involved in helping shape the future of solar in New York, advocating for solar legislation in Albany, serving as President of the Long Island Solar Industry Association (LISIEA), and contributing to the New York State Solar Industry Association (NYSIA).
Our team has worked alongside leading electrical companies and engineers to support the development and advancement of solar technologies and system improvements. That level of involvement has provided deep expertise in solar policy, incentives, compliance, system design, long-term performance, electrical integration, safety, and evolving solar technologies.
